The hit reality series “Jon & Kate Plus 8” turned Jon Gosselin into a celebrity. Newspapers, magazines and television networks nationwide swarmed his famous Pennsylvania family, hoping to squeeze out every ounce of headline possible. In covering the Gosselin craze, media outlets called Gosselin’s namesake – Aronimink Golf Club’s superintendent.
Again. Again. And again.
“Our phone rang continuously for a couple
years,” John Gosselin, 50, said. (Notice the H in
John.) “People would leave us messages on our an-
swering machine at home. It was my wife’s voice
on the machine. It would say, ‘You’ve reached the
Gosselins. Please leave us a message.’ We’d hear
people in the background saying, ‘It’s her. It’s her.
I can tell. It’s Kate.’ They would leave us messages
about how much they loved us. It was ongoing for
a long time.”
The gossip onslaught peaked in 2009, when Jon
and Kate publicly announced their divorce. Gosse-
lin, by virtue of name alone, became caught up in a
pop culture phenomenon.
