Diane Bartunek RiverCrest Golf Club & Preserve
Bartunek, 59, of Collegeville, Pa., assured a historical year for her
home club on Aug. 29. She aced the par 3, 100-yard No. 5 with a
pitching wedge, giving RiverCrest a club record 15 aces in 2019. It
marked the third hole-in-one of Bartunek’s career. She aced No. 13
at RiverCrest in October 2013 and No. 5 at Chester Valley Golf Club
in August 2014.
Evan Brown DuPont Country Club
Brown, 20, of Chadds Ford, Pa., captured the 68th Delaware State
Golf Association Amateur Championship June 24-26 at Maple Dale
Country Club in Dover, Del. He carded rounds of 70, 73, 68 and 72 to
prevail by three strokes over Play Golf Delaware’s William Kim. Brown
is a junior at Loyola University Maryland. He represented GAP in the
2015 Williamson Cup Matches.
Len Coleman Emanon Country Club
Coleman, 67, of Exeter, Pa., earned individual honors in the AGA/GAP
Super-Senior Coal Scuttle Championship Aug. 21 at Fox Hill Country
Club. His scorecard matched his age. Coleman carded five birdies
against a bogey and finished four shots clear of Country Club of
Scranton’s Paul Galdieri. He led Emanon to a second-place showing
at 10-over-par 223.
George Forster Radnor Valley Country Club
Forster, 63, of Blue Bell, Pa., made a 12-footer for birdie to capture
the Haverford Philadelphia PGA Classic Sept. 3 at Sunnybrook Golf
Club. The conversion came on the seventh playoff hole (No. 18, par
4, 410 yards), where Forster found the green with a 2-hybrid and
ultimately edged Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Rusty Harbold for the
$100,000 prize. Forster, Harbold and five others finished regulation
tied at 2 under.
Nicholas Gross Applecross Country Club
Gross, 13, of Downingtown, Pa., won the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship (Boys 12 Division) Aug. 1-3 at Pinehurst No. 8 (par 72,
5,910 yards) in Pinehurst, N.C. He carded rounds of 69, 72 and 68
to prevail by five strokes. Gross, an eighth grader at Downingtown
Middle School, registered 17 greens in regulation and five birdies to
cap his triumph with a 4-under performance.
