JUNIORS AGES 6-18 IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA will be able to join
the Youth on Course national network and to access unlimited golf for $5 or
less per round nationwide.
Seven courses in the Golf Association of Philadelphia region — Cobbs Creek
Golf Club, FDR Golf Club, John F. Byrne Golf Club, Delcastle Golf Club, Ed Oliver
Golf Club, Rock Manor Golf Club and Walnut Lane Golf Club — have
already signed up to participate as a Youth on Course facility.
“Our goal is to inspire the 2.9 million golfers ages 6-17 who are starting the game earlier
in life,” said Adam Heieck, Youth on Course Executive Director. “Thanks to our increasing state and local partners, we are making a significant difference in young people’s
lives and strengthening the future of golf.”
When Juniors join the Youth on Course movement in Philadelphia, they will also
be granted a GAP membership. Members will be able to establish a USGA/GHIN
Handicap and to gain access to GAP tournaments.
“Youth on Course is an ideal partner for our Association, as they align perfectly with
our mission to preserve, protect and promote the game of golf,” said Mark Peterson,
GAP Executive Director. “With this additional offering, the GAP now has a proven model
of providing Junior golfers with affordable access to area courses. This program will help
allow Junior golf participation to rapidly expand across the GAP.”
Since 2006, 650,000 Youth on Course rounds have been played and the program now has
upwards of 30,000 active members.
