THE GOLF ASSOCIATION OF PHILADELPHIA Championship Committee reviews the specifics of each tournament at the conclusion of the season. From that meeting, changes to policies and pro- cedures are discussed. These changes are voted
upon and/or tabled for later discussion. The Championship
Committee is comprised of Executive Committee members,
staff and at-large individuals from the GAP community.
A reduction in Senior age tournament flights from three to
two. In 2018, Senior Tournament divisions will be structured as
55-to-64 and 65-and-over. The prior flight designations were
55-to-59, 60-to-64 and 65-and-over.
The Handicap Index eligibility floor for the Senior 27-Hole
Challenge was increased to 18.0. The prior maximum Handicap
Index allowed was 12.0.
Beginning with the second portion of the current 2017-18 Winter
Series (the 2018 March-April events), the Committee approved
the creation of a Women’s Division. To be eligible, all female
members must belong to a Golf Association of Philadelphia
Member Club and be 18 years of age or older. In addition, a
Women’s Player of the Year will be recognized in both the Gross
and Net divisions. The Committee also announced the creation
of a Super-Senior Player of the Year – Gross and Net – beginning
in 2018 - 19.
