“For a lot of people, Brookside is such a
big part of their life. They just love the club,”
General Manager Michael Sloane said. “It’s
not a famous club in the Golf Association of
Philadelphia, but it’s an important club to a lot
of people in the Pottstown area.”
“It’s not like a second home. It is a second
home,” President Jim Konnick added. “You
can come here at any time, walk in and talk

Brookside and The Hill School partnership
exists today and continues to thrive.

of Pottstown, Pa., said. “We have a land lease
with them for approximately half of the golf
course. In the lease, we provide a golf course
for their teams, faculty and administration to
be able to play. We do a lot of things with The
Hill School.”
“It’s been a very good partnership. You
couldn’t have one without the other,” Konnick,
62, of Pottstown, Pa., added.
Shortly after World War I, Brookside sold
the Kepler parcel and purchased The Hill
School’s military mess hall, which today

IT’S SURPRISING that Brookside Country Club’s
forefathers rejected the club’s original name. Country Club of
