Joanne Limoges Wildwood Golf & Country Club
Three rounds, two aces for Limoges, 55, of Vero Beach, Fla. She earned
her first career hole-in-one on Sept. 22. Limoges, who summers in Avalon, N.J., fired a 5-hybrid into the par 3, 108-yard 16th hole. Four days
later, she again joined husband Claude and friend Jay Healy for a round at
Wildwood. Limoges then aced the par 3, 121-yard No. 5 with a 7-wood.
“That one I could see go in, which was kind of cool,” Limoges said. “It
was really exciting. I was a trauma nurse for years, and I’m always delayed. I think I was stunned. It really hit me when I got home. I don’t think I
honestly understood the magnitude of this.” According to US Hole In One,
an insurance company based in Ardmore, Pa., the odds of a player making
two aces in a five-day span are 1 in 823,554.
Harry Pillion Bala Golf Club
Pillion, 21, of Haverford, Pa., notched three holes-in-one in a span of four
months. On June 22, Pillion landed a pitching wedge slightly above a
back right hole location on No. 6 (par 3, 130 yards) at Bala and watched
it reverse into the hole for his first career ace. “I was with my brother Nate.
We saw it the whole way,” Pillion said. “He called it the whole way. It was
pretty incredible.” On July 27 at Squires Golf Club, Pillion aced par 3,
165-yard 17th hole with an 8-iron. He completed the hole-in-one trifecta
on Sept. 10 at Bala. Pillion spun a sand wedge into the 16th hole (par 3,
100 yards). “It was pretty much unreal,” he said. Pillion, an economics
and finance major, is a junior at West Chester University.
John Rogers Victory Golf Pass
Rogers, 58, of Chambersburg, Pa., was elected president of the Philadelphia PGA Section during the organization’s fall meeting Oct. 23. He
previously served as the Section’s director of section affairs, secretary
and vice president. Rogers began his career as an assistant professional
at Lancaster Host Farm, Chambersburg Country Club and Country Club of
York. He spent 20 years as head professional at Majestic Ridge Golf Club.
Rogers is currently the director of sales for Victory Golf Pass and vice
president of the Victory Golf Foundation.
Josh Ryan Lu Lu Country Club
Ryan, 14, of Norristown, Pa., won the long drive competition during the
2017 PGA Junior League Championship presented by National Car Rental
Nov. 16-19 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ryan, a Team New
Jersey member, prevailed with a drive of 312 yards in the skills challenge.
New Jersey fell to Team Georgia, 6. 5–5. 5, in the Final. Ryan, the Golf
Association of Philadelphia’s reigning Junior-Junior Boys’ Champion, is
a freshman at Norristown Area High School.
Derrick Wozniak Radley Run Country Club
Wozniak, 37, of West Chester, Pa. was elevated to president of the Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents (PAGCS). The current
Radley Run Country Club superintendent was named to the new position
on Nov. 6 at LedgeRock Golf Club during the PAGCS’s elections. “Our
association was founded in 1925, and for the past 92 years has a rich
tradition of dedicated turf professionals who are committed to enhancing
the golf course management profession. I look forward to working with our
Board of Directors in order to represent each of our members and advance
our association, while promoting the professional image of a golf course
superintendent and the important roles we as turf managers play for the
game of golf,” he said.
